Lake Barrine Teahouse

Lake Barrine Teahouse is seeking an experienced and reliable Cook to join our friendly kitchen team on a full-time basis.

Located on the shores of beautiful Lake Barrine in the Atherton Tablelands, we are a busy, long-established teahouse serving breakfast, lunch, café favourites, functions and special events.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in preparing quality food, works well as part of a team and can maintain consistent standards in a busy commercial kitchen.

Salary is $72,000–$82,000 per annum + superannuation, depending on skills and experience.

Task & responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a range of menu items according to recipes and established standards.
• Prepare ingredients and complete daily food preparation.
• Ensure consistent portioning, quality and presentation of meals.
• Work efficiently during busy service periods.
• Assist with stock rotation, food storage and inventory.
• Maintain a clean, organised and food-safe kitchen.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Work collaboratively with other kitchen and front-of-house team members.
• Assist with food preparation and service for functions and special events when required.

Qualification & experience

Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in a commercial kitchen.

The successful applicant will have sound knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques, a good understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements, and the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.

Strong organisation and time-management skills are required, together with availability to work a flexible roster including weekends and public holidays as required.
