CHEF – FULL TIME

Don Antonio Italian Restaurant is seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join our team at our restaurant in Preston, Victoria.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and organizing the preparation and cooking of food in our dining establishment, ensuring high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene and efficient kitchen operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Planning menus, estimating food and labor costs, and ordering food supplies.

• Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.

• Discussing food preparation issues with management, kitchen and waiting staff.

• Demonstrating techniques and advising kitchen staff on cooking procedures.

• Preparing and cooking food in accordance with restaurant recipes and quality standards.

• Explaining, implementing and enforcing food safety and hygiene regulations.

• Selecting and training kitchen staff where required.

• Freezing and preserving foods where required and ensuring appropriate food storage procedures are followed.

• Maintaining consistency in the taste, quality and presentation of dishes.

• Coordinating food preparation and kitchen activities to ensure efficient and timely service.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery or a related discipline.

• Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience in a commercial kitchen environment.

• Demonstrated experience in food preparation and cooking.

• Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen procedures.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

• Good organizational, communication and teamwork skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a kitchen team.

• Experience with Italian cuisine and pizza preparation will be highly regarded.

Salary: $80,000–$90,000 per annum (Subject to your Skill and Experience)
