METAL FABRICATOR – FULL TIME L & S Fabrication Pty Ltd Location: 131 Scanlon Drive, Epping VIC 3076 Employment Type: Full Time Salary: AUD $75,000 to $85,000 per annum plus superannuation About L & S Fabrication Pty Ltd L & S Fabrication Pty Ltd is an established metal fabrication company based in Epping, Victoria, with over nine years of industry experience providing high-quality metal fabrication, welding and custom manufacturing services. We specialise in precision manufacturing and custom fabrication, including CNC laser cutting, bending and folding, welding, assembly, powder coating and general metal fabrication. We work with mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, zinc and galvanised steel to manufacture and fabricate custom metal components, structures and products for a range of client requirements. We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Metal Fabricator to join our team on a full-time basis. Position Summary As a Metal Fabricator, you will be responsible for cutting, shaping, fabricating, assembling and welding custom metal structures, components and products in accordance with engineering drawings and project specifications. Key Responsibilities • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and project specifications to determine fabrication requirements. • Select appropriate materials, including mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, zinc and galvanised steel. • Measure and mark metal sheets, sections and components for cutting, shaping, bending and assembly. • Cut, shape, bend, fold and form metal using CNC laser cutting machinery, fabrication equipment and hand tools. • Position, align and assemble metal components and sections in accordance with drawings and specifications. • Weld sections and components together as part of the fabrication and assembly process. • Fabricate structural, architectural and other custom metal components and products. • Inspect completed fabrications and welded joints for dimensional accuracy, alignment, quality and defects, undertaking repairs or adjustments where required. • Perform finishing work including grinding, filing, smoothing and polishing. • Operate and maintain fabrication machinery, welding equipment and tools in safe working condition. • Carry out fabrication, installation or repair work at off-site locations where required. • Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised and safe work area. Qualifications & Experience • Relevant AQF Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (Metal Fabrication), including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV or equivalent qualification, together with at least one year of relevant work experience as a Metal Fabricator; or • Alternatively, where the applicant does not hold the relevant formal qualification, at least three years of relevant work experience in metal fabrication may substitute for the qualification. Skills & Attributes • Strong fabrication, measuring and assembly skills with good attention to detail. • Ability to accurately read and work from engineering drawings and specifications. • Competence in the safe use of fabrication machinery, welding equipment, hand tools and measuring instruments. • Ability to work with a range of metals, including mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium. • Good problem-solving skills and ability to identify and rectify fabrication defects. • Ability to work independently and as part of a fabrication/welding team. • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety and quality workmanship.
