MXB Pty Ltd (MXB Group) is a Brisbane based pipeline construction and fabrication contractor servicing the oil, gas and water sectors. Founded in 2023 and backed by more than 20 years of industry experience, we deliver pipeline construction, complex fabrication works, pipe spooling, site rehabilitation and plant hire from our workshop at Hemmant and on project sites across Queensland. 

Due to a sustained increase in workload we are seeking an experienced, trade qualified Metal Fabricator (Boilermaker) to join our workshop team in Hemmant on a full time, permanent basis. The work is varied and includes structural steel, custom fabrications, earthmoving machinery repairs, pipe work, and design and construct projects for a broad range of industries. You will be working from workshop drawings on jobs that range from one-off repairs to fabricated components for pipeline and civil infrastructure projects.

The position is available for an immediate start.

Benefits

•    Above award salary of $80,000 to $90,000 per annum plus superannuation, depending on experience

Task & responsibilities

•    Read and interpret workshop drawings, specifications and job instructions to determine job requirements, materials and sequence of operations

•    Mark out, cut, roll, bend and shape steel plate, sections and pipe using oxy, plasma, guillotine, press and rolling equipment

•    Fabricate and assemble structural steel, custom fabrications, pipe spools, fittings and machinery components to drawing and tolerance

•    Weld using MIG, TIG and stick processes on mild steel, and stainless steel where required, to the specified standard

•    Carry out repairs and modifications to earthmoving machinery, buckets, attachments and plant

•    Fit up, align and finish fabricated items, including grinding, dressing and preparation for coating

•    Inspect completed work for accuracy, quality and conformance with drawings and the company's ISO 9001 quality system

•    Maintain tools and workshop equipment and keep the work area clean and safe

•    Work in accordance with MXB's ISO 45001 safety management system, including job safety analyses, permits and PPE requirements

•    Assist with site based fabrication, installation and repair work on project sites as required

Qualification & experience

•    Australian trade qualification as a Boilermaker or Metal Fabricator (Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade or equivalent), or equivalent recognised overseas trade qualification

•    Minimum 3 years post-trade experience in structural, general or heavy fabrication

•    Demonstrated ability to read and interpret workshop and engineering drawings

•    Competent in MIG, TIG and stick welding; a weld test will be conducted prior to employment

•    Experience with earthmoving machinery or plant repairs is highly regarded

•    Current open driver's licence

•    Construction Induction (White Card) and forklift licence are an advantage

•    High attention to detail, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a small team

•    Willing to undertake occasional site work and travel within Queensland
