A young firm located in Shepparton Victoria run by a team of dynamic Chartered Accountant professionals is excited to welcome a hands-on candidate, who is ready to hit the ground from day one with minimal supervision.

As a Senior Accountant, you will play an important role in managing financial records, preparing accurate financial reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements, and supporting the organization's financial operations. Task & responsibilities

•Develop, review and implement accounting procedures, financial controls, and budgeting frameworks to support business operations. 

•Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery. 

•Monitor business performance by analysing revenue, expenditure, profit margins, and financial trends, and provide recommendations for improvement. 

•Manage taxation obligations, including the preparation and lodgement of tax returns, BAS, and other statutory reports. 

•Provide strategic financial advice to assist with business planning, forecasting, operational decisions, and growth initiatives. 

•Coordinate and support external audits, financial reviews, and compliance activities as required. 

•Oversee cash flow management, budgeting processes, and financial forecasting to maintain the organisation's financial health. 

•Maintain and enhance accounting systems and financial reporting processes to improve efficiency and data integrity. 

•Liaise with banks, financial institutions, external accountants, and other stakeholders regarding financial matters. 

•Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, taxation requirements, and internal policies while identifying and managing financial risks.

•Preparation of tax returns (Individuals, Partnerships, Trusts, Companies, Self-Managed Superannuation Funds)

•Lodgement of indirect taxes (GST, FBT, WET, FTC, RDTI)

•Managing Employment obligations (Super, WorkCover, Payroll tax)

•Preparation of year-end financial reports and periodic management reports for clients

•Preparation of business plans & financial modelling (budgets & cash flows) for clients

•Deal with banks, auditors and various local authorities

Qualification & experience

• Bachelors / Masters / CA or CPA aspirants

• Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience post qualification

• MYOB, Quickbooks, Xero, MS-Office and basic IT knowledge

• Good understanding of accounting & financial reporting practices

• Excellent filing & organizing abilities including attention to detail

• Good with numbers and smart analytical acumen

• Professional client interaction & soft marketing skills
