Bright Lilly Healthcare is seeking compassionate, reliable and dedicated Disability Support Workers/ Disability Carers to join our team in Albany WA on a permanent, full-time basis for multiple positions. Task & responsibilities
- Provide respectful, person-centred support that promotes client choice, independence, dignity, privacy and inclusion.
- Provide care, companionship and emotional support to people living with disability.
- Assist clients with everyday activities and daily living tasks while encouraging independence.
- Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, continence care and other personal care requirements.
- Provide mobility assistance, including transfers and movement around the home and community.
- Assist clients with meal preparation, cooking and food-related activities.
- Perform general household duties including cleaning, laundry, vacuuming and maintaining a safe and comfortable home environment.
- Assist clients with shopping, errands, appointments and other everyday activities.
- Accompany and support clients to participate in social, recreational and community activities.
- Follow individual support, care, behaviour and risk-management plans as applicable.
- Assist with medication management in accordance with individual support plans, training, organisational procedures and applicable requirements.
- Where appropriately trained and competent, provide additional supports such as PEG feeding, catheter care, bowel or stoma care, diabetes support, seizure support, wound care or respiratory support.
- Monitor and report changes in a client's wellbeing, condition, behaviour or support needs to the appropriate supervisor.
- Complete accurate progress notes, handover information, incident reports and other required documentation.
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with clients, families, carers, supervisors and relevant support professionals.
- Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries and client privacy at all times.
- Follow Bright Lilly Healthcare policies, procedures, WHS, infection control, manual handling and applicable requirements.
- Participate in mandatory training, team meetings, supervision and professional development.
- Demonstrate cultural awareness, compassion, respect and professionalism at all times.
Qualification & experience
Applicants must possess:
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or a similar field
- At least one year of relevant work experience in disability support, aged care, personal care or a related care environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Compassionate, reliable and respectful approach to client care.
Mandatory Requirements
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Current National Police Clearance.
- Current Working with Children Check, where applicable.
- Current First Aid – HLTAID011.
- Current CPR – HLTAID009.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle, where required.
- Smartphone suitable for electronic documentation and communication.
