Hays Specialist Recruitment is currently seeking a reliable and physically fit Garbage Truck Driver to support the City of Gold Coast through a temporary assignment. This is an excellent opportunity to work with one of Queensland's largest local councils, helping to deliver an essential service to the Gold Coast community while enjoying ongoing work and competitive rates.
Your new role
As a Garbage Truck Driver, you will play a key role in maintaining waste collection services across the Gold Coast. Working as part of a key City of Gold Coast's operations team, you will complete various collection routes each day, ensuring residential and commercial bins are serviced safely and efficiently.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Operating waste collection vehicles safely and in accordance with road regulations
- Completing scheduled collection runs across various Gold Coast locations
- Servicing and collecting residential and commercial waste bins
- Frequently entering and exiting the truck throughout your shift
- Wheeling and positioning bins for collection
- Conducting daily vehicle pre-start inspections
- Following all workplace health and safety procedures
- Maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach while working within the community
- Assisting with general operational duties as required
What you'll need to succeed
- Current MR Licence (minimum)
- Previous truck driving experience preferred
- Physically fit and capable of repetitive manual handling
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
- Reliable, punctual and able to work independently
- Waste management or local government experience is highly regarded
