Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will work under the direction of a Mechanical Engineer, focusing on the design, machining, and assembly of mechanical engineering parts. This role involves a blend of manual and CNC machining, drawing and programming, and mechanical assembly tasks. Main Responsibilities Main Responsibilities • Prepare technical drawings and machine programs for mechanical components under the direction of a Mechanical Engineer. • Assist a Mechanical Engineer with the design of new components and the modification of existing parts. • Machine mechanical components using conventional and CNC lathes. • Disassemble and measure mechanical assemblies, machine replacement components, and assemble new or modified assemblies using machine tools and controls. • Estimate material sizes and quantities and determine machine requirements for component manufacture. • Measure complex components, interpret and prepare technical drawings, and perform the calculations required for the work. • Inspect, maintain and repair machinery and equipment. • Check designs and completed components against technical drawings and specified requirements. • Assist with testing and evaluating mechanical components and assemblies to verify performance and compliance with specifications. • Assist with identifying and resolving manufacturing, machining and mechanical assembly issues. Skills • Technical drawing interpretation and understanding of engineering specifications. • CNC machine programming, setup and operation. • Conventional and CNC lathe and milling operations. • Precision measurement and dimensional inspection. • Mechanical assembly, disassembly and modification. • Material, tooling and machine requirement estimation. • Technical calculations for machining and component manufacture. • Machinery inspection, maintenance and repair. Qualifications • Relevant certification or a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. • Proficiency in CNC machining, lathe and milling operations. • Ability to program CNC jobs using Mastercam. • Strong teamwork and communication skills. SALARY $79K - $85K p.a.
