Position: APS5 Local Community Connector

  • Pay Rate: $55.24 per hour + super
  • Locations: Kununurra OR South Hedland (WA) (You can choose your preferred location)
  • Tenure: 12-month assignment (opportunity for extension)
  • Hours: Full-time (8:30 AM - 4:30 PM)
  • Mandatry Eligibility: Australian Citizenship is Mandatory Eligibility for this role.

Role Overview

Randstad is seeking an experienced practitioner and peer leader to join our client's Service Delivery team as a Senior Local Community Connector (APS5). Acting as a key place-based representative, you will support participants with complex NDIS pathways, provide peer guidance to staff, and build strong, culturally safe relationships across regional and remote communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Peer Leadership & Mentoring: Provide ongoing guidance, support, and operational mentoring to new staff and team members.
  • Complex Case Engagement: Manage complex community enquiries, tailor service methods, and guide participants through sensitive plan reviews or variations.
  • Cultural Safety & Inclusion: Drive culturally safe practices when engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, ensuring sensitive communication and continuous cultural development.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, service providers, and local community groups.
  • Policy & ICT Systems: Apply evaluative judgement to interpret policy frameworks and manage data accurately across business systems and Microsoft Office tools

Requirements

  • Leadership Experience: Background in mentoring, coaching, or guiding team members.
  • Cultural Competence: Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and communities. Proven track record of contributing to culturally safe service delivery and managing sensitive community engagements.
  • Travel & Driver's Licence: Valid Driver's Licence; comfortable driving long distances (including unsealed roads) and doing overnight remote stays.
  • Clearances: NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working with Children Check, and NDIA Pre-Engagement Check.
