We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our kitchen team.
The Chef will be responsible for planning and developing the menu, organising daily food preparation and cooking activities, preparing and cooking menu items, monitoring food quality and presentation, managing food preparation requirements and maintaining food safety and hygiene standards.
The Chef will also be responsible for estimating food requirements, assisting with food supply ordering, monitoring ingredient quality and freshness, and coordinating food preparation activities to support efficient kitchen operations.

Task & responsibilities
- Plan and develop menus, estimate food and labour costs, and manage the ordering of food, ingredients, and kitchen supplies.
- Review recipes and calculate appropriate menu pricing based on ingredient, labour, and operational costs.
- Monitor the quality, consistency, portioning, and presentation of dishes throughout all stages of preparation and service.
- Liaise with managers, dietitians, kitchen staff, and front-of-house teams to address food preparation, dietary, and service requirements.
- Develop and refine recipes and menus based on seasonal ingredient availability, customer demand, and expected service volumes.
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes using traditional Tandoor cooking techniques while maintaining consistent quality and flavour.
- Demonstrate Tandoor cooking methods and provide guidance to kitchen staff on preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation standards.
- Supervise and coordinate cooks and other kitchen staff involved in food preparation and service.
- Implement and enforce food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures throughout the kitchen.
- Recruit, select, and assist with the onboarding of cooks and other kitchen personnel.
- Provide practical training, coaching, and ongoing support to Tandoor and kitchen team members.
- Prepare production schedules and determine staffing requirements to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely food service.
- Monitor stock levels, minimise food wastage, and maintain appropriate storage and rotation of ingredients.
- Inspect kitchen equipment and Tandoor facilities to ensure they are clean, safe, and maintained in proper working condition.
- Maintain consistency in recipes, portion sizes, cooking methods, and presentation to ensure established food quality standards are met.
Qualification & experience
- Minimum Qualifications Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or Kitchen Management.
- Minimum 1–2 years' relevant experience working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen or food-service environment.
- Ability to estimate food requirements and assist with maintaining adequate food supplies.
- Ability to follow and apply appropriate recipes and cooking procedures.
- Ability to monitor the quality, freshness and presentation of food.
- Ability to work with fresh ingredients and maintain consistent food quality.
- Ability to maintain appropriate kitchen cleanliness, hygiene and food-safety standards.
- Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a kitchen team.
- Good communication, organisational and time-management skills.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and customer service.
