Medical Officer, Phase 1 Clinical Research | Melbourne | $125k to $155k + super
Looking for a move into clinical research that is a genuine step forward in your career? An established Phase 1 clinical trial site network is hiring a Medical Officer for its Melbourne unit.
Why this role
- Principal Investigator experience. You'll work as a Co-Investigator and, when delegated, act as Principal Investigator on healthy volunteer studies. Few early-career doctors get that opportunity.
- No trials background needed. Prior research experience helps, but it isn't essential. GCP training within the last two years is desirable, not mandatory.
- $125,000 to $155,000 plus superannuation, depending on your years of postgraduate experience.
- Full-time, permanent, with a more predictable routine than hospital rosters.
- Join a specialist early-phase team working at the front end of new medicines.
What you'll do
- Medical oversight of volunteers participating in Phase 1 studies
- Screening, eligibility assessment and medical review of participants
- Monitoring safety and managing adverse events
- Working closely with nursing, research and sponsor teams to deliver studies to protocol and GCP
What you'll need
- PGY3 or above
- Full, unconditional AHPRA registration (minimum 2 years)
- Recent clinical experience (within 2 years), including cannulation
- Advanced Life Support training
- A genuine interest in building a long-term career in clinical research
Whether you're a registrar between training posts, a locum GP or ED doctor wanting something more settled, or already research-curious, I'd like to hear from you!
