Position Summary: 

Salva Transport is seeking a responsible and experienced Truck Driver (General) to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently to various locations, ensuring that all deliveries are made on time and in accordance with company standards and safety regulations. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, adherence to traffic and safety laws, and excellent time management skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Transporting Goods: 

   - Operate heavy trucks, semi-trailers, or articulated vehicles to transport goods to designated locations, ensuring safe and timely delivery.

2. Loading and Unloading: 

   - Assist with loading and unloading goods, ensuring that items are handled safely and are securely fastened to prevent damage during transit.

3. Vehicle Maintenance and Inspection: 

   - Conduct regular inspections of the truck to ensure it is in good working order. Perform minor maintenance tasks and report any mechanical issues or defects immediately to the supervisor.

4. Route Planning and Navigation: 

   - Plan the most efficient and safe routes for delivery, taking into account road conditions, weather, and delivery schedules. Use GPS and maps to navigate to delivery locations.

5. Compliance and Record-Keeping: 

   - Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations. Maintain accurate records of driving hours, fuel usage, distance travelled, and delivery details. Complete all required paperwork and documentation for deliveries and vehicle inspections.

6. Communication: 

   - Maintain clear and professional communication with dispatchers, clients, and other team members. Report delays, accidents, or any other issues promptly to ensure efficient operations.

7. Customer Interaction: 

   - Provide courteous and professional service to customers during pick-up and delivery, ensuring a positive representation of the company.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Valid heavy vehicle driver's license appropriate for the type of truck operated.

- Proven experience as a Truck Driver (General) or in a similar role.

- Knowledge of truck maintenance and basic repair skills.

- Familiarity with GPS devices and navigation apps.

- Understanding of traffic laws, regulations, and safety procedures.

- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

- Good communication and customer service skills.

- Physical fitness and ability to handle heavy loads safely.

Working Conditions:

- May involve long hours of driving and extended periods away from home.

- Compliance with safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
