About the Role
Randstad is recruiting on behalf of a leading manufacturing client located in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join their operations team. In this role, you will assist in leading trade teams (Fitters, Electricians, Boilermakers, and contractors) and play a pivotal part in optimizing plant availability, improving preventative maintenance systems, and maintaining high safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Supervision: Assist in directing day-to-day maintenance activities for tradespeople and contractors, ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
- Preventative Maintenance: Plan, implement, and continuously improve Preventative Maintenance (PM) policies and systems for site assets.
- Plant Capability & Upgrades: Plan and supervise the installation, modification, and repair of plant equipment to maintain peak production performance and machinery availability.
- Troubleshooting & Engineering Support: Diagnose faults in mechanical and electrical equipment, interpret technical drawings, and advise on efficient repairs.
- Inventory & Purchasing: Assist in managing maintenance stores, tracking stock levels, and ordering parts and materials as required.
- Safety & Compliance: Promote strict compliance with Quality, Safety, and Environmental standards, reporting any unsafe practices or quality concerns.
Key Requirements
- Education: Engineering Degree or relevant Technical Education (TAFE or leadership qualifications highly regarded).
- Experience: While 2+ years of industry experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred, motivated Graduate Engineers with a great attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply!
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, perform fault-finding on mechanical and electrical systems, and manage PM systems.
- Soft Skills: Excellent communication, strong organizational abilities, and a collaborative approach to working alongside trades and contractor teams.
- Flexibility: Valid driver's license and a willingness to participate in shift work or call-outs when needed.
