East Adelaide Dental Studio is a general and family dental practice located in Glenside, SA, providing a full range of dental services including general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, implants and emergency care.
They are now seeking a Dental Assistant to join their team at Glenside, SA 5065.
The Role
The Dental Assistant will prepare patients for dental examination and assist the Dental Practitioner in providing care and treatment. The role involves arranging and handing instruments, medication and other dental requisites to the Dental Practitioner, preparing dental materials and processing X-rays, using suction devices and water sprays, performing routine maintenance and sterilisation of equipment, and advising patients on dental health education and post-operative care.
The annual salary is $71,491.68 plus superannuation.
The Responsibilities
Receive and prepare patients for dental examination.
Arrange and hand instruments, medication and other dental requisites to the Dental Practitioner.
Prepare dental materials and process X-rays.
Use suction devices and water sprays.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
Sterilise and prevent cross infection of equipment.
Advise patients on dental health education and post-operative care and procedures.
Act as receptionist for the Dental Practitioner.
Perform billing and other clerical tasks.
The Requirements
AQF Certificate II or III in Dental Assisting, or a related field.
At least 1 year of relevant experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar clinical support role.
At least 1 year of experience receiving and preparing patients for dental examination.
At least 1 year of experience arranging and handing instruments, medication and other dental requisites to a Dental Practitioner.
At least 1 year of experience preparing dental materials and processing X-rays.
At least 1 year of experience sterilising dental instruments and equipment and applying infection control procedures.
At least 1 year of experience advising patients on dental health education and post-operative care procedures.
Knowledge of infection control, dental materials and chairside assisting procedures.
Strong communication, organisational and attention-to-detail skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a clinical team in a patient-facing environment.
