Solar 1 Nation Electricals is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to manage and support the company’s IT systems, networks and business applications. The role will involve administering Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365, managing user accounts and access, maintaining network and mobile devices, supporting business applications, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting IT issues, and implementing cybersecurity, backup and disaster recovery procedures. The Systems Administrator will also maintain IT documentation and provide recommendations for system improvements. The position is full-time and ongoing, offering $80,000–$90,000 plus superannuation, depending on skills and experience.

Task & responsibilities

You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, security and performance of the company's servers, operating systems, networks and business applications. Your duties will include:

• Planning, installing, configuring and maintaining Windows server environments, operating systems, and associated server hardware and software
• Administering Microsoft 365 / Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory, user accounts, permissions, group policies, email and file-sharing systems
• Managing and supporting the company's CRM, quoting, job scheduling and accounting systems, and integrations between them
• Monitoring system and network performance, capacity and availability, and carrying out tuning, patching and upgrades
• Implementing and maintaining cybersecurity controls, including endpoint protection, multi-factor authentication, firewalls, VPN and access management
• Designing, scheduling and testing data backup, disaster recovery and business continuity procedures
• Configuring and supporting the office LAN/Wi-Fi, routers, switches, printers and VoIP phone system
• Setting up, securing and managing laptops, tablets and mobile devices used by sales consultants and field installation crews (MDM)
• Troubleshooting and resolving server, workstation, network and application faults, and providing second-level technical support to staff
• Preparing and maintaining system documentation, policies, operating procedures and system logs
• Assessing future IT and infrastructure needs and recommending improvements, and liaising with software vendors and IT service providers

Qualification & experience

• A Bachelor degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field, or at least 1-3 years of relevant experience as a systems administrator or in a closely related IT role
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience administering Windows Server, Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments
• Sound knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls) and IT security practices
• Experience with backup and recovery tools, and virtualisation or cloud platforms (e.g. Hyper-V, VMware, Azure)
• Experience supporting business applications such as CRM, job management or accounting software
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills, with the ability to support non-technical staff
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g. Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco) are highly regarded
