The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of passenger vehicles, 4WDs, SUVs and other light motor vehicles.

You will work as part of our workshop team and be involved in both routine servicing and more complex mechanical repairs.

Task & responsibilities

  • Inspect motor vehicles to identify mechanical faults and determine required repairs.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
  • Carry out scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance on vehicles.
  • Perform logbook servicing in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Service and repair engines, transmissions, steering and suspension systems.
  • Inspect, repair and replace brakes, brake pads, discs, components and related systems.
  • Diagnose and repair cooling, fuel, exhaust and engine management systems.
  • Remove, dismantle, inspect and replace worn or defective mechanical components.
  • Repair and replace defective vehicle parts and mechanical assemblies.
  • Reassemble engines and mechanical components following repairs.
  • Use computerised diagnostic equipment to identify faults and assist with repairs.
  • Test and adjust mechanical systems following repairs to ensure correct operation.
  • Carry out inspections and identify additional repairs or maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate service and repair records.
  • Follow manufacturer service manuals, technical specifications and workplace procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment.
  • Communicate professionally with colleagues and, where required, explain repair requirements to customers.
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard of safety, quality and workmanship.

Qualification & experience

  • Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or relevant automotive qualification.
  • Relevant industry experience as a Motor Mechanic.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and vehicle servicing.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical faults.
  • Experience working across different vehicle makes and models.
  • Ability to use vehicle diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a busy workshop environment.
  • A current Australian driver's licence is desirable.
