We are seeking an experienced and reliable Diesel Motor Mechanic to join our workshop team on a permanent full-time basis. The successful applicant will be responsible for mechanical and electrical repairs, dismantling wrecked vehicles, removing and storing vehicle components, and assisting with the installation of engines, transmissions and differentials into customer vehicles when required. Key Responsibilities: -Maintain a strong focus on workplace safety at all times during operating hours. - Report to the Workshop Manager from Monday to Friday. -Perform mechanical and electrical repairs and maintenance. - Remove usable vehicle parts from wrecked vehicles and correctly place them on designated shelves. - Strip and dismantle wrecked vehicles and dispose of remaining materials in designated skip bins. - Remove engines, transmissions and differentials from vehicles. - Install engines, transmissions and differentials into customer vehicles when required. - Operate forklifts within the yard where required. -Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop and yard. - Follow all workplace safety procedures and instructions. Skills, Qualifications and Experience To be considered for this position, applicants must have: - At least 5 years of relevant mechanical experience. -Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Technology, or equivalent, or relevant experience - Experience working with diesel engines and motor vehicles. - Ability to carry out mechanical and electrical repairs. - Experience dismantling vehicles and removing mechanical components. - Ability to safely operate a forklift. A current forklift licence/ticket is required. - A relevant heavy vehicle drivers' licence or agree to obtain one as a condition of employment - Ability to work safely and efficiently in a physically demanding workshop and yard environment. -Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual work. -Strong reliability, honesty and work ethic. -Ability to work independently and as part of a team. -A clean criminal history/background suitable for the position. This is a full-time Monday to Friday position, with 8 hours worked each day, plus overtime as required.
