Looking for Network Architect - Brisbane
Your New Role:
As a Network Architect, you will provide strategic and technical leadership across the city council's network modernisation, connectivity and telecommunications transformation initiatives. You will assess current-state network and security capabilities, develop future-state architectures and establish technology roadmaps, standards and governance frameworks.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Developing future-state network architectures, principles, standards and technology roadmaps.
Assessing existing network, connectivity and network security capabilities and identifying improvement opportunities.
Leading architecture and solution design across enterprise networking, connectivity and security domains.
Designing solutions covering core networks, Internet-first architectures, Zero Trust networking, secure access, software-defined networking, cloud connectivity and network segmentation.
Providing architectural governance, assurance and technical oversight across major project delivery activities.
Evaluating technology options, vendor solutions and architectural approaches.
Supporting business cases, investment decisions and network transformation initiatives.
Working closely with network, security, cloud, infrastructure and operational teams.
Supporting design reviews, implementation planning and resolution of complex technical challenges.
Contributing to incident investigations, risk remediation and continuous improvement.
Providing technical leadership and mentoring to uplift engineering capabilities.
What you will need to succeed:
7+ years of Solution Architecture experience.
A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or equivalent practical experience.
Extensive hands-on enterprise networking and network architecture experience.
Strong expertise across enterprise WAN, LAN, SD-WAN and campus networks.
Strong knowledge of core routing and switching architectures.
Experience with Internet edge, secure connectivity and network access services.
Experience with cloud networking across public, private and hybrid environments.
Strong knowledge of Zero Trust, secure remote access and network segmentation architectures.
Experience with network security technologies including firewalls, proxies, web gateways, NAC and DNS security.
Knowledge of high availability, resilience, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
Experience with network observability, monitoring, logging and performance platforms.
Knowledge of PKI, network identity and certificate-based authentication.
Deep knowledge of networking technologies and protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VXLAN, EVPN, DNS, DHCP and load balancing.
Experience delivering network modernisation initiatives such as network refreshes, cloud connectivity programs, Internet-first strategies, Zscaler implementations and segmentation programs.
