About the Role

The successful applicant will be committed to delivering high-quality finishes and possess strong knowledge of professional painting, decorating and surface preparation.

You will be responsible for preparing, painting and finishing a variety of interior and exterior surfaces across residential and commercial projects though out Melbourne, while maintaining consistently high standards of workmanship, safety and professionalism.

Task & responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces for painting, including sanding, scraping, filling, patching and caulking.
• Apply primers, undercoats, paints, varnishes, stains and protective coatings.
• Carry out high-quality interior and exterior painting.
• Undertake spray painting
• Paint feature walls and apply decorative finishes.
• Paint doors, frames, skirting boards and architraves.
• Mix and match paints and finishes to achieve required colours and specifications.
• Use brushes, rollers and spray equipment safely and effectively.
• Complete basic plaster repairs.
• Apply epoxy flooring and other specialist coatings.
• Protect surrounding areas, furniture and finished surfaces during painting works.
• Read and interpret job specifications, plans and client requirements.
• Work safely from ladders, scaffolding and elevated platforms where required.
• Complete work efficiently and within project timeframes.
• Maintain clean organized and safe work areas.

Qualification & experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Relevant qualification in Painting and Decorating, or equivalent recognized trade experience.
• Minimum 3 years' relevant painting and decorating experience, preferably across residential and/or commercial projects.
• Strong knowledge of professional painting techniques and surface preparation.
• Experience working with a range of paints, coatings and decorative finishes.
• Experience with spray painting and spray equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Excellent cutting, rolling and finishing skills.
• Ability to interpret job specifications and select appropriate materials and preparation methods.
• Good communication, time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work.
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
• White Card is required.
• Working at Heights experience is desirable.
• Must have a valid driver's license
