Australia Garlic Producers Pty Ltd (trading as “Australian Garlic”) was established in 1998. We harvest 100% Australian grown garlic — with farms located across the Northern Territory, South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria. We are seeking a full time qualified Mechanical Engineering Technician. The salary offered is $79,423per annum plus superannuation. Job duties and responsibilities include: - Assisting with preparing drawings, plans, and designs for mechanical engineering work -· Assisting in designing and modifying mechanical equipment and plant used in the planting, production and harvesting of garlic. -· Selecting appropriate tools and equipment for installation, repair, and servicing of farm processing machinery -· Assembling, installing, and maintaining new and modified mechanical assemblies, hydraulic power systems, conveyors, and packing lines used in garlic production -· Estimating material requirements, parts, and machine needs to support farm-based processing operations -· Conducting tests of mechanical systems, collecting and analysing performance data, and preparing reports to ensure equipment meets production demands and food safety standards -· Organising and supervising the inspection, preventative maintenance, and repair of large-scale processing and packaging machinery to minimise downtime -· Ensuring designs, modifications, and completed work comply with industry specifications, safety regulations, and Australian Garlic’s quality standards -· Supporting engineers in continuous improvement projects to enhance plant reliability, efficiency, and productivity in a fresh-produce setting The applicants will have the following skills and experience: At least a Bachelor’s degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or relevant fields OR at least 3 years relevant employment experience as a Mechanical Engineer Previous experience in farming or horticulture settings is highly desirable Excellent communication and time management skills Ability to work with minimal supervision
