A Western Australian industrial services provider based in Landsdale, is seeking a Maintenance Fitter to join its growing team on a full-time basis.

Position Overview:

The Maintenance Fitter is responsible for maintaining, repairing and fitting mechanical plant and equipment to ensure maximum reliability, availability and minimal downtime. The role involves carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance, diagnosing and resolving mechanical faults, performing equipment inspections and alignments, and replacing worn or defective components. The successful candidate will work safely and efficiently in accordance with engineering specifications, maintenance procedures and site safety requirements.

Task & responsibilities

  • Perform preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance on fixed and rotating mechanical plant and equipment.
  • Inspect, diagnose and repair mechanical faults to maintain equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
  • Dismantle, fit, assemble and replace mechanical components, including bearings, shafts, couplings, gearboxes, pulleys and other wear components.
  • Maintain crushers, conveyors, feeders, screens, chutes and associated processing equipment.
  • Complete planned shutdowns, equipment overhauls, inspections and component replacements.
  • Perform shaft, coupling and drive alignment, including precision laser alignment of rotating equipment.
  • Carry out conveyor belt, idler, pulley, liner and wear component change-outs.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications and technical manuals.
  • Use precision measuring equipment to inspect components, check tolerances and verify alignment.
  • Test and recommission equipment following maintenance and repairs.
  • Work with supervisors and other trades to safely and efficiently complete maintenance scopes.
  • Complete required maintenance documentation, permits, isolations and safety requirements.

Qualification & experience

  • Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade, or an equivalent trade qualification recognised in Australia.
  • Minimum 2 years post-trade experience as a Fitter, preferably in mining, mineral processing or heavy industrial maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical fitting techniques, tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
  • Experience with shutdown maintenance on fixed plant.
  • Tickets such as Working at Heights, Confined Space and EWP.
  • Current WA mining industry induction.
