Summary:
Supervises and directs packing shed staff to ensure produce is packed efficiently with focus on quality, safety, food safety.
Responsibilities:
• Effectively operate and supervise packaging lines on a day-to-day basis under the direction of the Production Coordinator and Directors.
• Manage packing line operations through a proactive supervisory presence to achieve maximum efficiency and productivity.
• Liaise with Quality Control Officers to ensure product quality standards are maintained, and all packing specifications are met.
• Direct and monitor packing shed staff to ensure safe and efficient work practices.
• Control and coordinate fruit inputs and product flow in conjunction with forklift operators and other operational staff.
• Assist with the management and operation of all packing lines as required by management.
• Ensure labels, cartons, pallets and other packaging components are correctly applied and maintained in accordance with packing instructions and customer requirements.
• Monitor the operation of packing equipment and report repairs, faults, and maintenance requirements promptly.
• Prepare machinery, equipment, pallets and bins for daily production requirements.
• Ensure sufficient packaging consumables, cartons, crates, bins and pallets are available to support daily packing operations.
• Participate in the induction, training and supervision of new and existing pack house employees as directed by management.
• Ensure compliance with Workplace Health and Safety, Food Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and promote a safe working environment.
• Complete incident reports, hazard reports and other operational documentation as required.
• Ensure work areas and equipment are cleaned and maintained in accordance with food safety and operational standards.
• Perform other duties as reasonably directed by management.
Minimum Job Requirements:
• Knowledge of product types, Colours, and Sizes.
• At least a relevant AQF Diploma or equivalent OR Three years employment experience in similar roles.
Knowledge, Skills & Ability:
• Supervisory skills
• High attention to detail specifically around Food Safety.
• Basic understanding and knowledges of WHS and ability to apply knowledges.
• Ability to induct and train new & existing staff.
• Ability to exhibit efficiency and commitment to work to strict deadlines.
• Ability to perform all duties required by shed hands.
• Understands all safety requirements of the machinery during & post operation to enable prompt response in case of emergency. This includes all computerized grading equipment.
