About the Position
GOEL ENTERPRIZES PTY LTD is seeking a skilled, reliable and experienced Painter to join the company's growing construction team on a permanent full-time basis.
The position involves a broad range of painting and decorating work across residential homes, commercial buildings, warehouses and other construction projects undertaken by the business.
The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing surfaces and applying paints, stains, varnishes and other finishes to internal and external surfaces. The role includes working on new construction projects as well as renovation, maintenance and refurbishment work.
The Painter will be required to assess and prepare surfaces, select and mix appropriate paints and finishes, apply coatings using brushes, rollers and spray equipment, and ensure completed work meets required quality and finish standards.
The successful applicant must be capable of working independently when required and effectively as part of a construction team. A strong commitment to quality workmanship, workplace safety, reliability and attention to detail is essential.

Task & responsibilities
- Examine and assess surfaces to determine the appropriate preparation and painting requirements.
- Read and interpret building plans, specifications, colour schedules and work instructions relevant to painting and decorating work.
- Prepare internal and external surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling cracks and holes, removing old paint and applying suitable primers or sealers.
- Protect floors, windows, fittings, furniture and surrounding areas before commencing painting work.
- Select and prepare paints, stains, varnishes, coatings and other finishing materials according to project specifications and manufacturer requirements.
- Mix and match paints and colours to achieve the required colour, consistency and finish.
- Apply paint, varnish, stains and other coatings to walls, ceilings, doors, windows, timber, metal and other surfaces.
- Apply finishes using brushes, rollers, spray equipment and other appropriate painting tools.
- Carry out interior and exterior painting work on residential homes, commercial buildings, warehouses and other construction projects.
- Apply decorative, protective and specialised coatings where required.
- Remove wallpaper, damaged coatings and other existing finishes before preparing surfaces for repainting.
- Ensure painted surfaces have an even, clean and professional finish and undertake touch-ups or corrective work where required.
- Identify surface defects, moisture damage or other issues that may affect painting work and report or rectify them where appropriate.
- Calculate required quantities of paint and materials and minimise unnecessary material wastage.
- Erect and safely use ladders, scaffolding and other access equipment where required.
- Safely operate and maintain painting tools, spray equipment and other associated equipment.
- Work cooperatively with builders, supervisors, subcontractors and other trades to coordinate work on construction sites.
- Inspect completed painting work to ensure it complies with project specifications, quality requirements and company standards.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area and comply with applicable workplace health and safety requirements.
- Assist apprentices, labourers and junior workers with painting-related duties where required.
- Perform other duties reasonably associated with the position of Painter.
Qualification & experience
- Minimum Certificate III in Painting and Decorating, or an equivalent relevant qualification. A higher relevant qualification will be regarded favourably.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant painting experience is mandatory.
- Experience in residential and/or commercial painting and construction projects.
- Sound knowledge of surface preparation, painting methods, coatings and finishing techniques.
- Ability to mix and match colours and select suitable paints and finishes.
- Experience using brushes, rollers, spray equipment and painting tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to identify and rectify surface and finishing defects.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and time-management skills.
- Ability to complete work within required construction deadlines.
- Construction Industry White Card preferred.
- Valid driver's licence is an advantage.
