As Chef you will be responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dishes that showcase the best of local, seasonal produce. You'll play a key role in day-to-day operations, working alongside a collaborative team to prepare high-quality dishes that keep our guests coming back.

Task & responsibilities

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with fresh food and takes pride in producing consistently high-quality meals.

Your daily duties include but not limited to:

• Prepare, cook and present a range of cafe menu items 
• Prepare ingredients and complete mise en place for daily service 
• Ensure food is prepared consistently and to a high standard 
• Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards 
• Monitor food quality, freshness and presentation 
• Assist with stock rotation, storage and portion control to minimise waste 
• Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen and food preparation area 
• Assist with the development of menu items, specials and seasonal offerings 
• Provide friendly and efficient service when interacting with customers 
• Follow all company procedures and food safety requirements

Qualification & experience

A genuine passion for cooking and a desire to consistently deliver high-quality food and service to our customers.

Ideally, you'll bring:

• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery preferred
• Strong attention to detail and a focus on freshness, quality and presentation
• At least one year of work experience in similar work environment
• Strong food preparation and cooking skills
• Good communication skills 
• Be consistent and able to work well in a team 
• Be able to perform well under pressure

On Lake Cafe is family owned business located in Barton ACT. The cafe is open for breakfast and lunch trading seven days a week. The cafe offers a wide range of menu items to its customers and takes pride in serving quality food. We are committed to creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere and an exceptional dining experience.
