About the Role DMG Concrete Pumping is seeking an experienced and qualified Diesel Motor Mechanic to join our team in the Cowaramup / Margaret River region of Western Australia. The primary responsibility of this full-time position is to maintain, test, diagnose faults and repair diesel engines and mechanical components of the company's concrete pump trucks and other heavy vehicles, ensuring the fleet remains safe, reliable and operational. In addition to the core mechanical duties, the successful applicant will have responsibility for operating truck-mounted concrete boom pumps when required to support the company's concrete pumping operations. This includes safely positioning and setting up equipment, operating the concrete pump, and carrying out routine inspections and cleaning of the equipment. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in diesel mechanical maintenance and repair, together with the practical skills and relevant licences required to operate concrete boom pump equipment safely. This position offers an opportunity to apply diesel mechanical expertise while providing additional operational support to DMG Concrete Pumping's concrete pumping services throughout the South West region. Key Duties – Diesel Motor Mechanic The role aligns with the occupation description for ANZSCO 321212 – Diesel Motor Mechanic: maintaining, testing and repairing diesel motors and the mechanical parts of trucks and other heavy vehicles, including transmissions, suspension, steering and brakes. • Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines and engine components. • Performing scheduled maintenance services, including oil changes, lubrication and engine servicing, in accordance with manufacturer recommendations. • Reassembling engines and components after repairs have been completed. • Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after repairs to ensure proper performance. • Diagnosing and testing components with the assistance of computers and diagnostic equipment. • Inspecting the company's trucks and heavy vehicles and identifying work required to maintain safe operating condition and, where applicable, roadworthiness. • Keeping accurate maintenance and repair records and advising management of faults, required repairs and preventative maintenance needs. • Responding to vehicle breakdowns and carrying out repairs where practicable and within the employee's skills and competency. Additional Duties – Concrete Pumping Operations As a supporting responsibility, the employee may occasionally assist with concrete pump truck operations when required by business needs, provided the employee holds the licences, training and competencies required for the relevant tasks. Which can include: • Safely drive, position and set up concrete pump trucks at construction sites. • Conduct pre-start inspections and assess site conditions before setting up the concrete pump. • Operate concrete boom pumps and associated controls to pump and place concrete safely and efficiently. • Monitor concrete flow, pumping pressure and equipment operation throughout concrete pours. • Communicate with concreters, builders, concrete suppliers and other site personnel to coordinate safe and efficient concrete placement. • Identify hazards associated with pump positioning, overhead obstructions, powerlines, ground conditions and personnel in the operating area. • Clean concrete pumps, pipelines, hoses, hoppers and associated equipment after pumping operations. • Carry out routine inspections and basic maintenance of pumping equipment and report faults or excessive wear. • Complete required job documentation, pre-start checks and operational records, and comply with workplace health and safety requirements. Qualifications and Experience • A relevant diesel mechanic or heavy vehicle mechanical trade qualification, or an overseas qualification that is appropriately recognised. • Demonstrated experience maintaining, testing and repairing diesel engines and heavy vehicles. • Practical knowledge of engine systems, transmissions, suspension, steering and brakes. • Experience diagnosing mechanical faults and using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment. • Ability to interpret technical information and service manuals and maintain accurate service records. • Ability to work independently, manage maintenance priorities and communicate effectively with management and colleagues. • A strong commitment to workplace health and safety. Licences and Other Requirements • A valid driver's licence appropriate to the duties performed. • Any Australian heavy vehicle licence required for vehicles the employee is required to drive. • Any licences, registrations or competencies legally required for the mechanical work or additional operational duties performed. Overseas qualifications and licences may be subject to Australian recognition, assessment, conversion or licensing requirements. What We Offer • Full-time employment with DMG Concrete Pumping. • $80,000 - $100,000 per annum plus superannuation. • Work based in the Cowaramup / Margaret River region of Western Australia. • A hands-on role maintaining a specialised fleet of diesel-powered concrete pump trucks and other heavy vehicles.
