Learning about equipment and machinery, including how turf maintenance equipment is used and maintained

Working alongside experienced team members to develop your skills and knowledge

This is much more than just mowing. You'll be given the opportunity to learn the science and reasoning behind sports turf management and develop a broad range of practical skills throughout your apprenticeship.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who:

Is genuinely interested in sports turf, turf management, grounds maintenance or sport

Is willing to learn, listen and take direction

Has a strong work ethic and a positive attitude

Uses initiative and common sense

Is willing to get stuck in and contribute to the team

Takes pride in their work and wants to understand why things are done, not just how

Is motivated to develop their skills and take on increasing responsibility throughout their apprenticeship

Has a valid driver's licence - P plates are welcome

Has reliable transport to and from the workplace

You don't need to have previous turf experience. What's most important is your motivation, curiosity and genuine willingness to learn.

Whether you're a school leaver looking to start your first trade or considering a career change, we want to hear from people who are genuinely interested in developing a career in sports turf management.

What you'll get

Full-time paid apprenticeship

38-hour working week

Standard hours generally around 8:30am - 4:00pm - some flexibility required around race days on Saturday/Sunday

Weekend work on race days, with a weekday off when required

Hands-on training and mentoring from experienced turf professionals

The opportunity to progressively develop your skills and take on greater responsibility

Exposure to a broad range of turf management practices, equipment and testing

The opportunity to build additional skills and tickets throughout your apprenticeship where available

The goal is to develop you into a highly skilled turf professional who understands the full scope of sports turf management and can progressively take on greater responsibility within the team.
