Beaudesert Family Practice
The General Practitioner role is to provide comprehensive medical care to individuals, families and the community (from initial consultation to follow-up) on simple or complex health conditions. The General Practitioner provides a variety of health services ranging from prevention of illness through to treatment and rehabilitation. The position requires consultation with other professionals internally (e.g. nurses) and externally (e.g. specialists).
The General Practitioner is also required to provide ongoing education in relation to health promotion, conduct research and assist in training colleagues and other health professionals.
Clinical duties consist of:
o Vaccination including children and travel
o Pulmonary function test
o Liaise with community supports
o Wound care, splinting and plastering
o Blood and urine testing
o Medication prescribing
o Medical assessment
o Health assessments
o Breast examination
o Testicular examination
o Eye and ear examination
a Sexually transmitted disease
o Counselling advice
o Suturing
o Excisions (removal of cysts, toenails and skin lesions)
o Cryotherapy
o Obstetrics and Gynaecology
o Prenatal and postnatal care
o Family planning
o Mental Health
o Basic and advanced life support
o Chronic disease management

Task & responsibilities
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide general medical care to patients of all ages
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses
- Perform physical examinations and health assessments
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Prescribe medications and treatments
- Provide counseling on preventive healthcare and lifestyle modifications
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities
Qualification & experience
Qualifications and Experience- Medical degree from a recognised institution
- Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Experience working as a General Practitioner
- Evidence of Medical Indemnity Insurance will be required
