B & J Catalano are seeking an experienced Boilermaker Welder to join the workshop team in Brunswick, Western Australia. This full-time position is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, modification and repair of structural steel components, plant equipment and heavy vehicle assets. The successful applicant will contribute to the ongoing maintenance and operational reliability of equipment that is essential to the delivery of our services across multiple industries.

Task & responsibilities

• Study and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and technical specifications to determine fabrication requirements.
• Measure, mark out, prepare, cut, shape and assemble structural steel and other metal components using hand tools, power tools and fabrication equipment.
• Perform welding, bolting and riveting of metal sections to manufacture, repair and modify plant, trucks, equipment and structural components.
• Operate fabrication machinery, welding equipment and associated workshop tools safely and efficiently.
• Inspect completed fabrications and welds for accuracy, structural integrity and compliance with company and industry quality standards.
• Carry out maintenance, refurbishment and repair work on metal structures, plant and equipment as required.
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations personnel to ensure fabrication projects and fleet maintenance requirements are completed within operational deadlines.

Qualification & experience

• Minimum 4–5 years of hands-on experience as a Metal Fabricator in a workshop or heavy industry environment. 
• Relevant trade qualification in Metal Fabrication/Boilermaking (or equivalent). 
• Strong welding ability across MIG, TIG and Stick processes. 
• Ability to read and work accurately from technical drawings. 
• High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills and commitment to safety. 
• Previous experience with civil, mining or transport equipment is highly regarded.
• Current Western Australian HR (Heavy Rigid) Driver's Licence
