About the Role
We are seeking a caring and dependable Personal Care Assistant to provide direct personal care and assistance to clients who require support with everyday activities.
The successful candidate will work closely with clients and other care professionals to deliver respectful, safe and person-centred care while promoting clients' independence, dignity and wellbeing.
This is a full-time position for a suitably qualified and experienced care professional.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include:
assisting clients with personal hygiene, showering, bathing, grooming and dressing;
providing toileting and continence support;
assisting clients with mobility, transfers and positioning;
assisting with meals, hydration and feeding where required;
providing direct personal care in accordance with individual care plans;
assisting clients to maintain comfort, dignity and independence;
monitoring clients' general wellbeing and reporting changes or concerns;
providing companionship and emotional support;
assisting clients with routine daily activities;
maintaining accurate care records and progress notes;
following infection prevention and control procedures;
communicating appropriately with clients, families, carers and healthcare professionals;
following individual care plans, workplace procedures and professional boundaries; and
complying with workplace health and safety, safeguarding and organisational policies.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
a relevant AQF Certificate III or higher qualification, such as Certificate III in Individual Support, or an equivalent relevant qualification; or
relevant experience demonstrating the skills required for the position;
relevant experience providing personal care in aged care, disability, healthcare or a similar environment;
knowledge of person-centred care;
good communication and interpersonal skills;
a respectful and compassionate approach to personal care;
a current National Police Check or ability to obtain one;
an NDIS Worker Screening Check where applicable;
First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain it; and
a valid driver's licence where required for the position.
