CANNING VALE WA 6155Full time

Listed 7 Oct 2026

Closes 14 Oct 2026

Own the WA market. Build the relationships. Create the opportunity.

If you know how to open doors in mining and heavy industry, navigate complex customer organisations and turn technical problems into commercial opportunities, this is an opportunity to make a genuine impact.

PERSOL Executive is partnering with a global specialist manufacturer to appoint a Business Development Manager for Western Australia.

The business has operated in Australia for more than 40 years and forms part of a global group with operations across more than 100 countries. Following significant investment in its Australian leadership, sales and technical capability, Western Australia has been identified as a key growth market.

You will take ownership of developing the WA market, building on an established customer base while creating new opportunities across mining, mineral processing, oil & gas and heavy industry. You'll have the autonomy to drive the territory, backed by locally based leadership, technical experts and broader national support to help you develop opportunities and convert more complex sales.

About the business

Our client specialises in high-performance lubricants and lubrication solutions used across demanding industrial applications.

Unlike high-volume lubricant suppliers, the business operates in the specialty end of the market, where product performance, equipment reliability and application knowledge are critical.

Its solutions are used across fixed plant and processing applications including crushers, gearboxes, conveyors, compressors and other critical machinery within mining, mineral processing, oil & gas and heavy industrial environments.

The business works closely with major end users, OEMs and channel partners to identify applications where the right lubrication solution can improve equipment performance, reliability and operating life.

The opportunity

Based in Perth and reporting to the National Sales Manager, you will develop relationships across Perth, the Goldfields and the Pilbara.

This is a home and field-based role, with a group facility available in Beckenham when required. There is no expectation for you to be based in the facility day to day. The focus is on being out in front of customers, developing relationships and building the WA market.

Your focus will include major mining organisations, mid-tier operators, oil & gas customers, OEMs and engineering businesses supporting fixed plant and processing operations.

You will:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across mining, mineral processing, oil & gas and heavy industry

  • Build relationships with engineering, maintenance, reliability, operations, procurement and commercial stakeholders

  • Grow existing accounts by identifying additional applications across sites and business units

  • Develop strong relationships with OEMs involved in processing, crushing, gearing and other critical equipment

  • Create demand directly with end users while working effectively with existing distributors and channel partners

  • Build and manage a healthy pipeline of opportunities across the territory

  • Work closely with the National Sales Manager, Mining Market Manager and technical specialists on larger and more complex opportunities

  • Provide market intelligence and customer feedback to support the broader Australian growth strategy

The sales process is consultative and technically led. Success comes from understanding the customer's operational challenge, demonstrating value and building relationships over time rather than competing purely on price.

What we're looking for

Direct experience within the lubricants industry would be valuable, but it is not essential.

More important is your knowledge and familiarity with the Western Australian mining, mineral processing, oil & gas or broader heavy industrial market, combined with a proven ability to develop new business within these environments.

Ideally, you will be familiar with fixed plant, processing equipment or the products and services that support these operations, rather than having worked solely around mobile mining equipment.

Your background could include:

  • Mechanical or rotating equipment

  • Industrial consumables

  • Aftermarket products and services

  • Process or crushing equipment

  • Bearings, gearboxes or pumps

  • Industrial chemicals

  • Tyres or other technical consumables

  • Engineering products or services sold into mining and heavy industry

You will understand how industrial customers operate and be comfortable engaging with stakeholders across technical, operational and commercial functions.

You do not necessarily need to be an engineer, but you will need enough mechanical aptitude and curiosity to understand equipment applications, ask the right questions and have credible conversations with engineers and maintenance professionals.

Most importantly, you will bring a genuine business development mindset. You will know how to identify opportunities, open doors, navigate complex organisations and build relationships that translate into long-term revenue growth.

Package

A competitive package is available comprising:

  • Base salary

  • Superannuation

  • Car allowance

  • Attractive performance bonus

The role will involve approximately one week of regional travel per month, predominantly across the Goldfields and Pilbara.
