Kathmandu Auto is a growing automotive workshop based in Fyshwick, ACT, servicing customers throughout Canberra. We are looking for an experienced and reliable Motor Mechanic to join our professional workshop team. As a Motor Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing and repairing a wide range of passenger vehicles while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and customer service.

Task & responsibilities
- Identify and diagnose mechanical faults in engines and related components.
- Disassemble and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering systems, and other vehicle parts for inspection.
- Repair or replace worn and defective components, following technical manuals as needed during reassembly.
- Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, lubrication, and engine tune-ups to enhance vehicle performance and meet environmental standards.
- Reassemble engines and related parts after completing repairs.
- Test and fine-tune mechanical systems post-repair to ensure optimal performance.
- Inspect vehicles and, where authorised, issue roadworthy certificates or outline required repairs to meet roadworthiness standards.
- Use computerised diagnostic tools to assess the condition and functionality of vehicle systems.
- Assisting with ordering spare parts according to work required
- Follow Safety procedures at all times
- Advise customers on work performed, general vehicle conditions and future repair requirements
Qualification & experience
- Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
- Relevant automotive mechanical qualification, such as Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology, or equivalent
- Previous experience working as a Motor Mechanic / Automotive Technician
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience servicing and repairing a variety of makes and models
- Good knowledge of engines, brakes, steering, suspension and vehicle electrical systems
- Ability to use electronic diagnostic equipment
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and time-management skills
- Current Australian driver licence or ability to obtain one
