Mason Bros Vegetable Farms, located in Werribee South, is an industry leader in growing and supplying fresh cut vegetables throughout Australia.
About the positions:
Several positions available for our farming / nursery operations including:
1. Nursery Hand – assists with the day-to-day nursery and farm operations
• Preparing soil mixes, sowing, planting, fertigation, irrigation of vegetable seedlings and plants
• Cultivation of vegetable seedlings and farm vegetable crops
• Application of pesticides to control pests, diseases, weeds, and address plant nutritional concerns
• Stacking, racking, seedling trays and movement of racks and equipment utilising forklift and lifting aids.
• Assist with planting operations in the farm
2. Forklift Operator – assists our warehouse vegetable movements, storage and distributions
• Loading, unloading, movement and storage of vegetable produce
• Safe forklift operation
• Manual labour work – packing and stacking vegetable produce
• Participate in cleaning programs in accordance with food safety regulations
3. Farm Plant Operator – assists with operating farm mobile machinery such as tractors, planters and harvester and provides general assistance throughout the farm
• Daily set up of farm equipment and machinery for planting and harvesting operations
• Assist coordinating & undertaking daily planting & harvesting farm activities, sowing, planting and harvesting programs in accordance with production plans
All positions require:
• Safe operation of farm equipment & machinery & completing pre-operational checks of tractors, planters, harvesters, forklifts etc.
• Applying Occupational Health & Safety practices and adjusting to environmental conditions
• Undertake quality control and regular cleaning programs in accordance with hygiene and food safety regulations
• Daily data inputs recording of nursery and farm activities
• Flexibility to assist with other areas of the Farm / Nursery
About you:
• Minimum Certificate III in Horticulture / Agriculture or equivalent (essential)
• Experience operating a variety of farm machinery including planters, harvesters, tractors, trailer towing, forklift
• Solid previous experience in horticulture / vegetable farming
• Current valid state driver's license (essential)
• Forklift license (essential)
• Enjoy working outdoors in a farming environment
• Be a team player, with a hands-on and helpful approach
• Good English communication skills
• Flexibility to work additional shifts / hours during peak season demands
We offer:
Full-time employment, with a competitive wage from $72,000 per annum plus super commensurate with your experience and qualifications.
