Distinqt Integrated is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Procurement Specialist to manage procurement activities across its residential and commercial projects. The role will involve sourcing materials and services, evaluating quotations, negotiating with suppliers, coordinating orders and deliveries, monitoring costs and maintaining supplier relationships. Working closely with directors, project managers and site teams, the successful candidate will help ensure procurement is cost-effective, timely and aligned with project requirements.

Task & responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate procurement activities across residential and commercial construction, renovation and fit-out projects.
  • Review project requirements, budgets and timeframes to identify procurement needs and establish appropriate purchasing priorities.
  • Source and evaluate suppliers for construction materials, equipment, products and project-related services.
  • Obtain, analyse and compare supplier quotations, pricing, delivery timeframes and commercial terms.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms and delivery arrangements with suppliers to achieve competitive and commercially suitable outcomes.
  • Coordinate orders and deliveries with project managers, site personnel, suppliers and contractors to ensure materials and services are available when required.
  • Monitor procurement expenditure, cost variations, supplier pricing and delivery performance, and identify opportunities for improved cost control.
  • Analyse procurement and operational data, including expenditure, lead times and supplier performance, to identify trends and provide useful information to management.
  • Maintain supplier databases, pricing registers, procurement schedules and purchasing records to ensure accurate and current information is available to the business.
  • Monitor supplier performance and maintain effective working relationships with key suppliers and service providers.
  • Review workflows between estimating, procurement, site delivery and accounts, and recommend practical improvements to procurement processes and business methods.
  • Assist management in developing and implementing procurement policies, approval processes and internal controls to support consistent and transparent purchasing practices.
  • Monitor procurement activities against internal procedures, supplier terms and relevant licensing and insurance requirements for subcontracted services, and report identified issues to management.
  • Prepare procurement comparisons, analytical reports and business cases to support management decisions relating to supplier selection, purchasing strategies, cost management and operational efficiency.
  • Identify procurement and supply risks and recommend alternative suppliers, products or purchasing approaches where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with directors, project managers, site personnel, accounts staff, suppliers and contractors to support the timely and efficient delivery of projects.

Qualification & experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in procurement, procurement analysis or a related commercial role.
  • Demonstrated experience in supplier sourcing, quotation assessment, purchasing and supplier relationship management.
  • Strong commercial, analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to assess costs, supplier proposals and purchasing options.
  • Experience monitoring procurement expenditure, identifying cost efficiencies and supporting sound business decisions.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with management, project teams and suppliers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, spreadsheets and standard business systems.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Management, Procurement or a related discipline is desirable; an MBA or equivalent postgraduate qualification will be highly regarded.
