Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and reliable Cook to join our kitchen team full-time. The ideal candidate will have solid commercial cooking experience, a strong understanding of food safety and hygiene, and the ability to produce consistent, quality dishes in a busy kitchen. The role involves preparing and cooking menu items, planning daily specials, managing portions and inventory, and keeping the kitchen clean, safe and well maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook menu items to a consistent standard of quality and presentation
• Prepare pizza dough, bases and toppings, and operate pizza ovens
• Plan and prepare daily specials
• Manage kitchen food safety and hygiene in line with food safety regulations
• Control portion sizes to maintain consistency and minimise waste
• Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering and manage kitchen inventory
• Receive, check and correctly store food deliveries
• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures
• Work effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff during dine-in, pick-up and delivery service
• Maintain good time management during preparation and service periods

Qualifications:

• Certificate IV in Kitchen Management, Diploma of Hospitality Management, or an equivalent qualification
• Minimum 1 year of relevant commercial cooking experience
• Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Reliable, organised and attentive to detail

About Company

New Britannia and Angry Tony's Pizza Co share a venue at 103–107 Cleveland Street, Darlington: a pizza restaurant with a licensed bar, in a historic Victorian-era hotel building. We are open for dine-in seven days a week from 4:30pm, with lunch service on Fridays and Sundays. We also run pick-up and delivery orders, daily specials, a weekday happy hour, and events and catering. We are looking for a capable and dedicated Cook to join our busy kitchen team.
