We are seeking an experienced and trade-qualified Diesel Motor Mechanic with strong hydraulic and mechanical capabilities. In this role, you will diagnose, service, repair, and maintain heavy diesel vehicles, transport trucks, earthmoving machinery, and specialized industrial hydraulic systems.

Task & responsibilities
- Detect and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in engines, hydraulic power units, and control systems using diagnostic software, precision meters, and manual troubleshooting methods.
- Disassemble and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and hydraulic components, thoroughly inspecting internal parts for wear, crack damage, or failure.
- Repair or replace worn and defective components, precisely reassembling engines, mechanical parts, and high-pressure fluid systems in strict accordance with service manuals and manufacturer specifications.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance services—including oil and fluid changes, system lubrications, filter replacements, and engine tune-ups—to optimize vehicle performance and maintain compliance with emission and pollution regulations.
- Custom-assemble, fit, and repair high-pressure hydraulic hoses, air lines, grease lines, and fittings for transport fleets and heavy industrial machinery.
- Test, tune, and calibrate repaired engines and mechanical components under operational loads to ensure proper performance, pressure stability, and safety standards before releasing to the client.
- Execute workshop repairs and respond to urgent mobile/field service calls across Melbourne to minimize equipment downtime and restore operational capability.
Qualification & experience
- Trade Qualification: Certificate III (or Above) in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology, Automotive Diesel Engine Technology, or Mobile Plant Technology (or equivalent Australian recognized qualification).
- Experience: Proven 1 year Plus Full time experience working with heavy diesel engines, hydraulic systems, high-pressure hose assemblies, and mechanical components.
- Driver License: Valid Manual Driver’s License (Heavy Rigid / HR preferred for mobile service duties).
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic schematics, pumps, valves, and fluid power systems.
- Practical expertise with push-lock fittings, crimping equipment, and line assemblies.
- Sound problem-solving ability in both shop and field environments.
