Newmason Eat Drink and Relax is a hospitality venue in Warragul offering a welcoming dining and social experience with a focus on quality food, service and customer satisfaction.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. The successful applicant will play an important role in maintaining food quality and consistency while contributing to the efficient day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
The Chef will be responsible for preparing and cooking food, coordinating kitchen activities, maintaining food safety standards and ensuring dishes are consistently prepared and presented to a high standard.
The position requires someone who can work efficiently in a busy hospitality environment, manage competing priorities and work collaboratively with the wider kitchen and service team.

Task & responsibilities
-Planning and preparing menus in consultation with management.
- Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes to a consistently high standard.
- Preparing ingredients and ensuring appropriate portion control.
- Monitoring the quality, freshness and presentation of food.
- Preparing and cooking food in accordance with recipes and established kitchen procedures.
- Supervising and coordinating kitchen staff during food preparation and service.
- Assisting with menu planning and development of new dishes.
- Estimating food requirements and assisting with purchasing and ordering.
- Monitoring stock levels and rotating food supplies appropriately.
- Inspecting incoming food supplies for quality and freshness.
- Ensuring food is stored in accordance with food safety requirements.
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and sanitation.
- Ensuring kitchen equipment, utensils and preparation areas are properly cleaned and maintained.
- Monitoring food preparation and service to minimise wastage.
- Maintaining appropriate records relating to food preparation, stock and kitchen operations.
- Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
- Working closely with management and front-of-house staff to coordinate efficient food service.
- Assisting with training and guiding kitchen staff in food preparation and kitchen procedures.
Qualification & experience
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Minimum Cert IV level qualifications in Commercial Cookery or Hospitality
- Previous experience of at least one year working as a Chef in a commercial kitchen.
- Sound knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
- Experience preparing a range of dishes in a busy hospitality environment.
- Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and sanitation requirements.
- Ability to maintain consistent food quality and presentation.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods.
- Ability to supervise and work effectively with kitchen staff.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A professional approach and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for kitchen operations.
