The Retail Buyer will monitor sales and stock levels, analyse market and consumer trends, negotiate supplier arrangements, and develop pricing, promotional and purchasing strategies to meet seasonal and business requirements.

Task & Responsibilities

• Review sales and stock levels to determine purchasing needs and monitor changes in customer demand, supplier pricing and product availability.
• Negotiate product prices, quantities, delivery terms and promotional arrangements with grocery suppliers.
• Develop and implement pricing, promotional and product display strategies to increase grocery sales.
• Work with store management to plan future product requirements, purchasing activities and promotional campaigns.
• Plan purchasing activities based on seasonal demand, available funds and expected sales.
• Identify customer preferences and decide the range, quantity and quality of grocery products to order.
• Monitoring supplier performance, addressing service concerns and reporting any contractual issues or disputes to management.
• Assessing product quality and specifications to ensure purchased goods meet applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements. 

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

• At least AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)
• At least 1 year of full-time experience as a Retail Buyer
• Organisational Skills: Ability to manage purchasing activities, product ranges, supplier information and stock levels.
• Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate prices, quantities, delivery arrangements and trading terms with suppliers.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse sales data, market trends, consumer demand and stock performance to support purchasing decisions.
• Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, management and internal teams.
• Retail Knowledge: Understanding product selection, pricing, promotions, consumer trends and retail purchasing practices.

Salary: $79000-85000
