Simply Sports Cars Pty Ltd is seeking a qualified and experienced Accountant to join our team on a full-time
basis. The accountant will be responsible for the compliance-based financial reporting, assurance and
accounting information systems of the business, and will advise the Directors on financial, statutory and
record-keeping matters to support sound governance and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
The Accountant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:
Develop and implement the company’s budgetary and accounting policies, ensuring they comply with
Australian Accounting Standards and support the governance of the business.
Conduct financial investigations, prepare reports and undertake internal audits, and advise the Directors
on matters such as the purchase or sale of business assets, capital financing, suspected fraud, insolvency
risk and taxation
Examine operating costs, income and expenditure across the new vehicle, pre-owned vehicle, service and
parts departments, reporting findings and recommendations to management.
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports for presentation to the Directors,
management, financiers and statutory bodies, including review of month-end and year-end close
processes.
Provide assurance about the accuracy of the information contained in the company’s financial reports and
their compliance with statutory requirements, and coordinate external audit and financier reporting.
Prepare the company’s BAS/GST, payroll tax, and the supporting information for the annual income tax
return, liaising with the company’s registered tax agent.
Introduce and maintain the company’s accounting systems, and advise on the selection and application of
computer-based accounting and dealer management software.
Maintain internal control systems over bank accounts, payroll and purchasing, identifying weaknesses and
recommending improvements.
Appraise the cash flow and financial risk of capital investment projects, such as facility upgrades,
equipment and stock purchases.
Advise management on record-keeping requirements and ensure financial records are maintained in
accordance with statutory obligations.
Ensure financial integrity and compliance with Lotus systems.
Key Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor degree or higher in accounting, or a closely related field.
Graduate Diploma in International Financial Accounting or a closely related field
Minimum 1 years of relevant professional experience as an Accountant or in a closely related field.
Desirable experience in the automotive industry in Australia.
Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, GST/BAS, FBT and other Australian taxation
requirements.
Skills & Attributes
Advanced Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software Microsoft Dynamics, Xero.
Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
Ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial managers.
Integrity, discretion and the ability to meet statutory and reporting deadlines.
