About Us Rail & Civil is a Brisbane-based construction company delivering civil, rail and infrastructure projects throughout Queensland. We work across a diverse range of projects involving rail infrastructure, bridges, concrete and formwork, precast structures, drainage, earthworks and associated civil construction. Key Responsibilities • Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications and measurements relevant to carpentry and formwork works. • Set out, construct, erect and dismantle formwork for concrete structures, foundations, slabs, pits, walls and other civil infrastructure. • Measure, cut, shape, assemble and install timber and other construction materials in accordance with project specifications. • Construct and install temporary and permanent structural components required for civil and rail infrastructure works. • Carry out carpentry works associated with railway platforms, access structures, bridges, drainage structures and other infrastructure. • Assist with precast concrete manufacture, preparation and installation, including form preparation and associated carpentry works. • Undertake formwork and carpentry associated with concrete pours and ensure structures are correctly aligned, levelled and secured. • Install and repair fencing, handrails, access structures and other project components where carpentry skills are required. • Work alongside concreters, steel fixers, plant operators and other trades to complete civil construction activities safely and efficiently. • Inspect completed carpentry and formwork works to ensure they meet project drawings, specifications and quality requirements. • Maintain tools and equipment and ensure work areas are kept safe and organised. • Follow project-specific safety procedures and comply with rail corridor, WHS and site requirements. About You To be successful in this position, you will ideally have: • Relevant carpentry trade qualification is recommended. At least 3 years of relevant carpentry experience can replace the formal qualification • A minimum of 2 years' relevant carpentry experience, preferably within civil, infrastructure or rail construction. • Strong experience in formwork and concrete construction. • Experience working from construction drawings, plans and specifications. • Previous experience on civil infrastructure projects. • Previous rail construction experience is highly desirable. • Previous Queensland Rail project experience is highly desirable. • Excavator and/or other plant operating experience is advantageous. • Construction White Card and relevant site safety qualifications. • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements. • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary construction crew.
