I am currently partnering a key state government agency with an exciting contract opportunity for an Claims / Access to Information Officer.
This is a critical role within the Corporate Governance team, delivering thorough statutory information access determinations across claims, workers compensation, and legal frameworks.
About the Opportunity
As the Claims & Access to Information Officer, you will manage end-to-end statutory requests and applications made under Section 180 of the Return to Work Act and the Freedom of Information Act. Working within a collaborative and supportive team, you will review complex file contents and apply legislative exemptions and determinations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, analyse, and redact complex statutory file requests.
- Assess and determine applications under Section 180 of the RTW Act, FOI legislation, court orders, subpoenas, and warrants within required statutory deadlines.
- Evaluate claims records, legal communications, and sensitive documents to identify legal professional privilege and statutory exemptions.
- Retrieve and package confidential files from various source systems, archives, investigator portals, and claims agent networks.
- Provide consistent, equitable advice and guidance to internal teams, legal providers, claims agents, and applicants
Ideally you will:
- Practical experience processing Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, managing statutory information access, or applying administrative law principles.
- Strong background in claims management, insurance environments (e.g., EML, Gallagher Bassett), or workers compensation schemes.
- Law graduates are welcome to apply (must have completed studies).
- Exceptional attention to detail, precision, and strong document comprehension skills.
- Ability to work independently, exercise high confidentiality, and maintain zero-tolerance for error in quality work output.
