Garrison Restaurant & Bar is seeking an experienced Café or Restaurant Manager to oversee its day-to-day restaurant operations and deliver a high standard of service, team performance and guest experience.

Located at 7 Forts Road, Mount Clarence, Garrison operates lunch and dinner services and also caters for private dining, weddings and corporate events. The venue offers à la carte dining, a broad wine and beer selection and a growing cocktail offering.

Task & responsibilities

•    Manage and coordinate daily restaurant and bar operations.

•    Plan and oversee dining service to ensure efficient workflow and high standards of customer service.

•    Recruit, train, supervise and roster front-of-house staff.

•    Monitor staff performance and provide ongoing guidance and support.

•    Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service and timely delivery of meals.

•    Manage reservations, table allocations, functions and special events.

•    Handle customer enquiries, feedback and complaints professionally.

•    Monitor stock levels and coordinate ordering of beverages, consumables and other restaurant supplies.

•    Liaise with suppliers and assist with cost control, stock management and purchasing.

•    Monitor operational budgets, sales performance and labour costs.

•    Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, RSA, workplace health and safety and other regulatory requirements.

•    Maintain restaurant presentation, cleanliness and service standards.

•    Assist with menu, beverage and service planning in consultation with senior management and kitchen staff.

•    Manage cash handling, POS procedures, end-of-day reconciliation and operational reporting.

•    Support private dining, wedding and corporate event operations where required.

Qualification & experience

The successful applicant will ideally have:

•    Relevant hospitality management qualifications and/or substantial restaurant management experience.

•    Previous experience managing a busy restaurant, café or hospitality venue.

•    Strong leadership and staff supervision skills.

•    Experience with rostering, stock control, ordering and cost management.

•    Strong understanding of food and beverage service standards.

•    Excellent customer service and communication skills.

•    Ability to manage busy service periods and resolve operational issues effectively.

•    Strong organisational and time-management skills.

•    Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, RSA and workplace safety requirements.

•    Ability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.
