Role Objective

 

The Senior Consultant – Civil Engineer role is an experienced level technical position which provides well-developed industry knowledge, technical and professional skills and support to specific project as assigned. The Senior Consultant manages and provides leadership in the collaborative efforts with Project Managers and the broader team to design and implement project outputs, supporting operational alignment with strategic objectives and the timely delivery of project deliverables.

Job specific responsibilities

 

•    Lead the planning, design and delivery of engineering projects by supporting the interpretation of construction documentation and drawings, technical plans, methodologies and project procedures.

•    Develop and maintain detailed engineering designs, specifications and technical documentation, applying well-established methodologies and industry best practices. 

•    Champion technical excellence across project activities, reviewing and validating designs to ensure structural integrity, performance and compliance with safety standards. 

•    Oversee and coordinate project execution, including managing resources, supporting site activities and ensuring effective collaboration between stakeholders and contractors. 

•    Lead technical assessments and engineering analysis, evaluating design performance under relevant conditions and identifying opportunities for optimisation and risk mitigation. 

•    Review drawings to support on managing project cost considerations, contributing to estimates, monitoring financial impacts of design decisions and leading the assessment of variations. 

•    Review, interpret, and analyse data from various complex sources, presenting findings in formats tailored to project requirements and inform project director and decision-making.

•    Manage the preparation of deliverables for client submissions, including comprehensive analysis, writing reports and preparing any other project outputs. Prepare for any questions that may arise from our clients. 

 

In addition to the above outlined responsibilities, this position may be assigned project tasks which can work on the below service delivery areas at scope which requires providing quality checking on the input and deliverables of more junior technical team members, reviewing drafted reports prepared by junior technical team members and preparing more complex or specialised reporting. The work assigned will have access to supervision and instruction from more senior members of the technical team:

 

Planning & Scheduling

 

•    Developing a schedule from a set of construction drawings.

•    Managing and coordinating updating progress and agreements of resequencing with stakeholders to mitigate slippage.

•    Working with the project team on the validation/assessment of schedules received from 3rd parties. This includes confirming critical path, logic errors, scope omissions.

•    Development of integrated master schedules with dynamic interdependencies between sub projects in separate programmes.

•    Cost loaded schedule development and maintenance.

•    Resource loaded schedule development (including levelling)

•    Develop basis of schedule and other related schedule quality/management documentation in liaison with the project team.

 


Qualification & experience

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

 

•    Qualifications – minimum of graduate certificate or bachelor's degree in relevant field, such as Engineering Construction, Project Management, Architecture, Quantity Surveying or Business / Commerce.

•    Relevant experience in the professional services/consultancy industry and/or technical experience relevant to TBH service offerings.

•    Proficient in the use of computer systems including Microsoft Suite, various databases and software systems with experience in trouble shooting and applying advanced features to optimize project outcomes and enhance team efficiency

•    Demonstrated experience and outcomes in the application of advanced problem-solving skills and methods

•    Strong communication and engagement skills (oral, written and presentation) with demonstrated experience in internal and external stakeholder liaison and coordination

•    Holds a developed understanding of project management methods and application as well as and project controls principles

•    Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and provide leadership in team management and support to junior employees
