Our client is an industry leading agribusiness with sophisticated Orchard operations located in Colignan and surrounds. They are currently looking to fill 100 Orchard Hand positions across their farming sites, with work commencing from October 2026 onwards.
You are required to work in an Orchard environment where you will be working mostly outdoors. Working outdoors means you will be exposed to varying temperatures between 15°C and 35°C, depending on the time of year. You will be a team player who is fit and able to perform repetitive tasks such as standing for long periods of time, walking and bending down.
You will be paid under the Agri Labour Australia Horticulture Agreement 2016 – Level 2, with most of the work being on a piece rate basis (However you will receive a minimum hourly rate of $33.05 per hour), with at least 120 hour of work over a 4 week period. This will be aligned with the Fair Work Commission's annual reviews, including any increases to the National Minimum Wage and minimum award rates of pay. You will be offered between 6 to 9 months of work and potential to upskill into leadership roles.
Key duties include:
Working on a grape vineyard carrying out various tasks for pre harvest, harvest and post harvest.
Most work is piece rate work.
Pre and post harvest work will include, but not limited too:
• Rolling - Vine training
• Putting covers on and off
• Pruning - Weeding
• General orchard hand duties
• Cleaning
• Planting
• Trellising
Harvest grapes by hand, using picking shears or snips as required
• Sort and place bunches into collection bins or crates
• Handle fruit gently to prevent damage or bruising
• Follow instructions from supervisors and team leaders
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment
• Meet productivity and quality targets Safe and efficient picking of grapes, meeting productivity and quality requirements of the host.
Characteristics and Aptitudes:
To be considered for the roles, it's important you meet the following criteria:
• Comfortable working in an outdoor environment
• Good communication skills and able to follow instructions
• No asthma or dust allergies
• Live locally or be happy to relocate to Colignan
• Physically fit and comfortable in carrying out labour intensive duties
• Comfortable working in various weather conditions
• Able to follow directions and work unsupervised whilst showing high levels of initiative
• A team player and happy working with a multicultural team
