Our client is a growing professional services firm that combines legal, advisory and commercial expertise to support businesses across technology, telecommunications, energy, venture-backed companies and mid-market organisations. With offices in Sydney and Melbourne, they have built a reputation for delivering commercially pragmatic advice without the bureaucracy and internal competition often associated with larger firms.
Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Regulatory Lawyer (3-5+ PQE) to join their Sydney team.
The Opportunity Working closely with an experienced Partner, you will advise a diverse portfolio of clients across regulatory, compliance and commercial matters, gaining direct access to decision-makers and business leaders.
This is not a narrow specialist role. You'll work across a broad range of matters including:

  • Technology, privacy and data governance
  • Telecommunications regulation
  • Energy and utilities regulation
  • Compliance and regulatory advisory work
  • Commercial contracts and negotiations
  • Intellectual property and trademark matters
  • Consumer and commercial law issues
  • General legal and strategic advice to growing businesses

You'll be encouraged to work directly with clients, manage matters autonomously and contribute to the commercial success of the practice.
About You We are interested in speaking with lawyers who have:

  • Approximately 3-5+ years PAE, although strong candidates outside this range will be considered
  • Experience gained within a law firm, in-house legal team, or a combination of both
  • Exposure to regulatory, compliance, technology, telecommunications, energy or privacy law
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • A commercial and pragmatic approach to legal advice
  • The confidence to engage directly with clients and manage relationships

Experience advising telecommunications or energy sector clients will be highly regarded.
