Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join its Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice in Sydney CBD.
This opportunity offers a broad mix of commercial and civil disputes, with a particular focus on contractual claims and Australian Consumer Law matters involving motor vehicles. You will manage matters from initial advice through to resolution, combining hands-on litigation with practical, commercially focused advice.
The role
- Manage litigation matters with autonomy, working closely with supervising Partners on key strategic decisions.
- Advise clients on prospects, risk, evidence, settlement options and dispute strategy.
- Draft pleadings, affidavits, submissions, advice and settlement documents.
- Manage discovery, subpoenas and expert evidence, and prepare briefs to counsel.
- Attend hearings, mediations and conferences, appearing where appropriate.
- Build strong client relationships and contribute to mentoring junior lawyers and developing the practice.
About you
You will bring at least five years’ post-admission experience in commercial or civil litigation, including contractual disputes and Australian Consumer Law claims.
You will also have:
- A current NSW practising certificate, or eligibility to obtain one.
- Strong drafting skills and sound knowledge of court practice and procedure.
- The ability to independently manage matters, deadlines and client expectations.
- Practical commercial judgement and confident communication and negotiation skills.
- A collaborative approach to working with Partners, colleagues, counsel and clients.
Experience in advocacy, alternative dispute resolution, mentoring or business development will be highly regarded.
