#RJED Museum Curator Assistant

Djómi Museum is looking for a local person to work as a Museum Curator Assistant. This role supports the care and management of the museum’s collection. You will help look after artefacts, keep displays in good condition, and assist with preparing items for future relocation. This is an entry-level role, suited to someone who is interested in learning about museum work, culture, and community history. You will receive training and support on the job. Main duties include: • Assisting with the care and handling of museum items • Checking displays and making sure artefacts are safe and well looked after • Helping prepare items for storage or relocation • Supporting basic record keeping and data entry • Assisting with cleaning, pest checks and general collection care • Helping keep the museum space clean, organised and safe Requirements: • Interest in culture, history or museum work • Willingness to learn new skills and follow instructions • Good attention to detail • Ability to handle items carefully and respectfully • Basic computer skills or willingness to learn • Ability to work as part of a team • Be on RAES • Live in Maningrida (accommodation not provided)
