Support young people in Maningrida to stay strong, connected to culture and away from the justice system. Duties include: Building positive and trusting relationships with young people. Providing one-on-one and group mentoring. Helping lead cultural, youth and community activities. Supporting young people to develop life skills, make positive choices and stay engaged. Supporting programs aimed at reducing youth offending and contact with the justice system. Working with families, Elders and cultural leaders to strengthen young people’s connection to culture and Country. Sharing Bininj knowledge, values, language and cultural practices through activities. Supporting the Justice team with program planning, activities and client support. Being a positive role model for young people in the community. Requirements Bininj person from Maningrida. Experience working with young people in Maningrida. Ability to build trust and engage positively with young people. Understanding and lived experience of the issues and challenges young Bininj people may face. Good communication, listening and interpersonal skills. Basic planning and organisation skills. Ability to work respectfully with young people, families, Elders and people from different cultural backgrounds. Willingness to learn record keeping and basic technology skills. Current Ochre Card. National Criminal History Check, or ability to obtain one. Current NT Driver’s Licence, or willingness to obtain one. Experience with youth, cultural, sporting, school or community programs is desirable. This position does not come with housing.
