SOUL FOOD DESIGN DEPOT & GALLERY PTY LTD, trading as SOUL FOOD DEPOT & GALLERY, is looking for chefs and cooks for their venue to assist in the operation of their diverse range of high volume food outlets.
SOUL FOOD DEPOT & GALLERY is more than what meets the eye! Narromine’s iconic packing shed is home to our spacious dining area serving a range of fresh meals from our kitchen, surrounded by a collection of locally sourced produce and homewares.
To be considered for the role, you need to have a relevant industry qualification and at least 1-2 years' experience in a similar position.
Key Responsibilities:
Depending on the position and level of responsibility, duties will include:
-Planning menus and contributing to the development of new and seasonal menu items
-Estimating food requirements and food costs and assisting with effective cost control
-Ordering food supplies and monitoring stock and inventory levels
-Strong emphasis on quality and consistency of dishes
-Preparing, seasoning and cooking a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and standards
-Monitoring the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation, cooking and presentation
-Regulating and monitoring the temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment
-Portioning and plating food and adding sauces, gravies and garnishes to ensure consistent presentation
-Preparing meals to accommodate special dietary requirements where required
-Ensure food is appropriately stored in temperature-controlled facilities while maintaining consistent portion sizes, presentation and overall food quality.
-Demonstrating cooking techniques and providing guidance on food preparation and cooking procedures
-Collaborate with the culinary team in menu planning and assist in estimating food requirements based on anticipated customer demand and operational needs
-Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, safety, and cleanliness
-Ensuring compliance with WHS and food safety regulations
-Share culinary expertise by providing training and supervising junior kitchen staff while fostering a positive, collaborative and professional kitchen environment.
-Working collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure efficient service during busy periods
-Managing kitchen operations efficiently during busy service periods
-Monitor stock usage, minimise food wastage, and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas in a clean, organised and serviceable condition.
YOU MUST BE
-Available to work nights, weekends and school holidays as required
-Flexible and reliable
-Positive, with a can-do attitude; and
-Willing to work collaboratively as part of the Soul Food Depot & Gallery team
