Reports to: Production Manager (referred to as Workshop Worker in procedures) General • Conduct and present yourself and your workplace in a professional manner at all times. • Adhere to the company’s values (Can do /Transparency / Client Satisfaction /Everything Considered / Aligned / Quality).\ • Adhere to company / team and individual KPI’s. • Overall operation of the CNC machine. • Operate other workshop machinery as required. • Studying drawings, work orders and sample parts to determine specifications • Determining tooling and machine requirements and sequence of operations • Setting up woodworking machines and wood stock for correct cutting, planning, turning, shaping and sanding • Operating machines to cut, plane, turn, shape and sand work pieces • Ensure all cut items are labelled prior to removing from the cutting bench. • Daily checking of the machine to ensure all components are in good working order. • Regular cleaning of the machine and surrounding areas. • Removing old finishes by stripping with steel wool and glasspaper, and by applying solvents and paint strippers, and removing softened finishes by scraping • Applying varnish, shellac, lacquer, stains and paint to surfaces and polishing and waxing finished surfaces • Fitting and fastening frame pieces • Mounting backing materials and subjects for framing Quality Management System: • Ensure compliance with contract and legislative standards and codes. • Follow procedures as instructed. • Report to the Production Manager any damaged or unsuitable materials. WHS Management System: • Take reasonable care in the performance of work so as to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses to themselves and others. • Adopt safe work practices consistent with their training, instruction and level of competence. • Report all injuries immediately. • Report any hazards identified as part of their normal duties. • Undertake workshop induction. • Comply with workshop safety rules. • Use and maintain PPE. • Attend and participate in toolbox talks/consultations. Environment Management System: • Take reasonable care in the performance of work so as to prevent environmental incidents. Essential Requirements • At least 2 years of relevant experience as a Wood Machinist, CNC Operator, Joinery Tradesperson, or similar role. • Experience operating CNC woodworking machinery. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. • Strong understanding of woodworking materials, machinery, and manufacturing processes. • Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards. • Ability to work effectively within a team environment. Desirable Qualifications • Relevant trade qualification in Cabinet Making, Joinery, Wood Machining, or related field. • Experience in custom joinery or commercial fit-out manufacturing.
