We are looking for a Carpenter to join our team. Listing dates: 30/09/2026 to 28/10/2026 ABOUT THE COMPANY: Matt Birney Builders Pty Ltd is a family owned, licensed building contractor in Far North Queensland The team takes on residential, commercial, industrial and government work, from new homes and commercial buildings through to kitchen and bathroom renovations. . POSITION DETAILS: Location: Thursday Island, Torres Strait Islands and Queensland Employment type: Full-time Salary: $78,000-$90,000 . EMPLOYMENT RESPONSIBILITIES: • Read and interpret building plans, drawings, specifications and work orders to determine job requirements, materials and construction methods. • Select, order and prepare appropriate timber, building materials, fixtures and fittings for construction activities. • Measure, mark, cut, shape and assemble timber and other materials accurately to required dimensions and specifications. • Construct, erect, install and repair building frameworks and structures, including wall and roof frames, floor systems, partitions and structural components. • Form and cut timber joints and assemble components using appropriate hand tools, power tools and woodworking equipment. • Install doors, door frames, windows, cabinetry, fixtures, fittings, mouldings, skirting boards and other finished components. • Install and repair internal and external timber structures and building components in accordance with plans and specifications. . SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: • Certificate III including at least one year of relevant experience, or Certificate IV. At least 3 years of relevant experience may be accepted in place of the formal qualification. • Relevant experience may also be required. • Registration or licensing may be required for this occupation. Licences: Construction induction (White Card) .
